A World of Trotts
Introduction
‘A World of TROTTs’ is a project being undertaken by the TROTT One-Name Research Group (TONRG) to gather and record information and research data, on a worldwide basis, relating to the TROTT family name.
The Database
The general use software Microsoft Access is being used to record the data provided by TONRG Members and others. A GEDCOM file can be provided to TONRG members so that they can import the data into their own genealogy programs but only on the understanding that any added or amended data also be provided to the group for updating of the master database. Data may also be available in Family Tree Maker for Windows 2006.
The database is a composite of research data and information provided by current and former TONRG members and others and will continue to grow and evolve as new data comes to hand. The data has been provided in good faith by individual researchers, but is often only cursorily researched and/or unproven, and therefore should only be used as a starting point or reference tool for your own detailed research.
The database currently contains in excess of 14,000 individual TROTTs plus another 1900+ variant surnames. The common element of each family group is a TROTT ancestor or relationship. Generally a family group will consist of a husband and wife (or father and mother) and children but in many cases will consist of only one known individual and often without any details other than the name.
